LillIsland Fever Part 4 – The Web

Edging my way along for what seemed like hours I was relieved to see trees to my left and an end to the rock finally.
I climbed down and got onto solid ground, even if I was standing in a few inches of water, I was happy to be off that rock. I was now in a mangrove forest and I couldn’t see much beyond 3-4 metres in front of me. Above was a canopy that blocked out the sun. Standing in the water looking around I was both excited and relived. Relived because I was on the ground again, and excited because I had no idea what was next.
I splashed forward looking down where I was going, straddling mangrove roots that had woven across the ground. As I was stepping over a mangrove root a ticking web went across my face and I raised my arms and then they too were covered in a spider web! I freaked out with a little scream as I stepped back and brushed myself off like I was trying to get rid of fleas or something. I must have looked hilarious and thank goodness no one was watching haha.
After brushing over myself everywhere making sure the owner of the web hadn’t jumped on to hitch a ride I looked ahead through the thick mangroves, and saw the maze of spider webs more clearly. There were a lot of them, everywhere. This was going to be interesting…
